Busselton Ironman
In December 2024, I completed Busselton Ironman. This was a long, difficult event and took many months of training. The idea came late in 2023, where a close friend completed the event and got the idea into my head. Having not swum since highschool, and never cycled, there was a lot to learn and think about in order to make it to the day.
The Ironman was as much about mental resolve as it was physical endurance. In the book “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho, there is a quote that says “Every search begins with beginner’s luck and ends with the victors being severely tested”. This whole event felt like a test of a years worth of dedication, doubt, and effort, however there was a particular moment that will stick with me for the rest of my life, where I realized that I was capable of pulling myself through extreme hardship.
This event taught me a lot about the power of persistence, trying hard, learning to fail and being okay with extreme discomfort. It ignited an extreme passion for trying my best and finding ways to bring myself to my limits.
